Karen Ford has been making her award-winning Asian-inspired porcelain and glass work in her Westport, CT studio since 1998.   These artistic and unique functional pieces have been presented in galleries, Museum stores and Craft Shows throughout the US.

After graduation from the Fashion Institute of Technology with a BS in Marketing and AAS in Merchandising, a safe and employable major, initially she pursued a career in advertising.   But a pottery class at Parsons School of Design changed the course of her life.   Clay was intriguing because there was a tactile element in problem solving that other 2D arts didn't offer.   Rather than pursuing a third degree, Karen traveled throughout the country and japan studying with many accomplished artists.   Knowledge was power and that gave her the freedom to experiment with many different techniques before focusing on Porcelain.

Karen taught adult ceramics courses at the Silvermine School of Art for 10 years.   She continues to teach adult classes at Wilton High School during the academic year and privately for those who wish to have a one on one environment.   the creative process evolves in her westport studio.
